Oklahoma St. 52, SMU 16

STILLWATER, Okla., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Seymore Shaw rushed for three first-half touchdowns and Josh Fields threw for three more Saturday night as Oklahoma State crushed Southern Methodist, 52-16, in its final contest before commencing Big 12 Conference play.

Shaw, who ran for 91 yards on 16 carries, put the Cowboys (2-2) ahead for good, 7-0, when he capped an 11-play, 60-yard drive with a one-yard run 4:58 into the contest.

Fields, who finished 13 of 21 for 193 yards, completed a pass to Rashaun Woods from 24 yards out with 48 seconds left in the half to stretch the Cowboys' lead to 45-0. Fields matched his career high in touchdown passes and each was thrown to a different receiver.

Tate Wallis was 17 of 28 with no touchdowns and one interception for the Mustangs (0-4), who were meeting the Cowboys for the first time since 1950.

SMU's Keylon Kincade, who had rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the Mustangs' first three contests, was limited to 78 yards on 20 carries.
