CHICAGO, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Alex Gonzalez's one-out solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Monday night lifted the Chicago Cubs to a 3-2 triumph over the Montreal Expos.
Gonzalez's third game-winning homer this season was the 100th home run of his career. The decisive blow came moments after Moises Alou robbed Jose Vidro of a potential leadoff extra-base hit in the top of the ninth.

Alou went up against the ivy in left field, jumped and just was able to haul in Vidro's drive.
In the bottom of the ninth, Gonzalez lifted a 2-2 pitch from Jim Brower (3-2) over the right field fence for his 17th homer of the season.
Joe Borowski (4-4) pitched 1 1/3 hitless innings for the victory.
