AUBURN, Ala., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- The Auburn Tigers rolled up 621 yards of total offense Saturday night and routed the Western Carolina Catamounts, 56-0, to snap a four-game losing streak.
Coming off a tough season-opening loss at Southern California, Auburn (1-1) overpowered Western Carolina in what amounted to a glorified scrimmage. The Tigers scored 28 points in each half.
Five different players had rushing touchdowns for Auburn, led by Carnell Williams. He scored twice in the first quarter on runs of 20 and 42 yards. Williams rushed four times for 67 yards in only one quarter of action.
Auburn's Daniel Cobb and Jason Campbell combined to complete 21 of 30 passes for 276 yards and each threw a touchdown pass.
It marked the first time the Tigers had surpassed 50 points since they scored 62 against Fresno State in 1996. Auburn posted its 11th consecutive non-conference home win.
Western Carolina (1-1) rushed for only 86 yards a week after running for 257 against Liberty.
