DETROIT, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Defenseman Jiri Fischer, who helped the Detroit Red Wings win the Stanley Cup in his first full NHL season, signed a two-year contract with the club Tuesday.
In a career-high 80 games, Fischer had two goals, eight assists and 67 penalty minutes. He added three goals, three assists and 30 penalty minutes in 22 playoff games.

A 1998 first-round pick of the Red Wings, Fischer has career totals of three goals, 24 assists and 171 penalty minutes in 187 games.
