Cleveland 5, Seattle 3

CLEVELAND, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Light-hitting Karim Garcia hit a two-run homer off Doug Creek with none out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Cleveland Indians downed the slumping Seattle Mariners, 5-3.

After Creek walked Matt Lawton to start the ninth, Garcia was called upon to sacrifice, but bunted through the first offering from Creek (2-2).

He then hit an 0-1 pitch three rows into the right field seats, giving the Indians a second straight dramatic victory.

Garcia's shot was similiar to rookie Josh Bard's first major league homer that won Friday night's game just after the stroke of midnight. Both homers barely eluded right fielder Ichiro Suzuki.

Bard also homered in his first at bat Saturday, giving the Indians a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third.

Terry Mulholland (2-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief of Danys Baez, who allowed three runs and five hits over seven innings.

The Mariners' bullpen is 5-3 since July 28, with all three losses coming to the Indians.
