Arizona 11; Cincinnati 3

PHOENIX, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Curt Schilling pitched seven strong innings Wednesday night, and Steve Finley fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle as the Arizona Diamondbacks cruised past the Cincinnati Reds, 11-3.

In improving to 19-2 against National League opponents, Schilling (21-4) allowed two runs and five hits with a walk and nine strikeouts. The veteran righthander, who evened his career record against Cincinnati to 7-7, has dropped just one of 10 decisions since June 19.

Finley drove in runs with a double in the first inning, a triple in the second, and a single in the fourth. After walking in the sixth, he just got under an 0-1 offering from Bruce Chen in the eighth, flying out to right to fall short of the

cycle.

Quinton McCracken and Junior Spivey also had three RBI for the Diamondbacks, who have won 10 of their last 11 games and 15 of 18.

Cincinnati starter Brian Moehler (2-3) was pounded for six runs and seven hits in two innings. Acquired from Detroit on July 23, Moehler had made two consecutive quality starts for the Reds after struggling in his first three appearances.
