CLEVELAND, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Chamique Holdsclaw scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds Sunday night as the Washington Mystics clinched the first winning record in franchise history with a 60-54 victory over the Cleveland Rockers.

Washington (17-14) remained tied with Charlotte for second place in the Eastern Conference and will visit the Sting Tuesday night in the season finale. The winner will gain home-court advantage for the upcoming first-round series between the teams.

Cleveland led by as many as 11 points in the first half and settled for a 24-18 edge at halftime. The Mystics chipped away gradually and finally pulled even at 38-38 on a jumper by Coco Miller with 11:45 remaining.

Holdsclaw gave Washington the lead at 50-48 for good with a jumper with 2:52 remaining. Rookie Asjha Jones made two foul shots and Annie Burgess sank one of two for a five-point advantage with 76 seconds to go.

Jennifer Rizzotti hit a three-pointer -- Cleveland's first basket in more than nine minutes -- to cut the Rockers' deficit to 53-51. Holdsclaw responded with a backdoor layup and rookie Stacey Dales-Schuman added two foul shots with 24 seconds left for a 57-51 lead.

Reserve Murriel Page contributed 13 points and Dales-Schuman added 11 for Washington, which outscored the Rockers in the paint, 30-14. The Mystics also held a 40-36 edge on the glass.

Ann Wauters scored 12 points and Chasity Melvin added 10 for Cleveland, which lost its fifth straight and eight in a row at home. Merlakia Jones' three-pointer with 13 seconds left gave her 2,001 points as she became the 13th player in WNBA history to reach the 2,000-point plateau.
