Orlando 71, Detroit 58

ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Nykesha Sales scored 19 points and keyed a pair of second-half runs Sunday as the Orlando Miracle kept their faint playoff hopes alive with a 71-58 victory over the Detroit Shock.

To reach the playoffs, the Miracle must win its lone remaining game while both Miami and Indiana suffer a loss.

Sales made nine of 16 shots from the floor and grabbed five rebounds as the Miracle won for just the second time in five games.

Detroit had a 36-30 lead with 19:42 remaining before Sales scored six points during a 13-2 Orlando run. Katie Douglas, who scored 13 points, capped the spurt with a layup to give the Miracle a 43-38 edge with 15:30 to go.

Detroit climbed within 45-44 before Orlando scored 13 of the next 15 points. Wendy Palmer scored eight of her 12 points and Sales added five during the burst as Orlando built a 58-47 cushion at 7:20.

Shannon Johnson and Brooke Wyckoff scored eight points for the Miracle, who had their largest lead at 68-50 with 2:42 left.

Orlando shot 46 percent from the floor despite making just seven of 25 three-pointers.

Elaine Powell had 15 points and eight assists and Deanna Nolan added 10 points as Detroit lost for the second time in five games.
