Sharks re-sign Ragnarsson

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- The San Jose Sharks Friday re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Marcus Ragnarsson.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ragnarsson, 31, collected five goals and 15 assists in 70 games last season while leading the Sharks in average ice time at over 22 minutes per contest.

The 6-1, 215-pounder also was named to the NHL's World All-Star team and played for his native Sweden in the Olympics at the Salt Lake City Games.

Ragnarsson enters this season as the Sharks' all-time leader among defenseman in scoring with 27 goals and 118 assists in 494 games.
