
DENVER, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The Denver Nuggets continued to add to their frontcourt depth Thursday, signing center Mark Blount to a one-year
contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Denver Post reported that Blount will receive $788,000.
"We're excited to add another solid big man like Mark," Nuggets General Manager Kiki Vandeweghe said.
Vandeweghe acquired oft-injured center Marcus Camby from the New York Knicks in a draft day deal for Antonio McDyess, added
Nikoloz Tskitishvili, a 7-footer from the Republic of GeorgiH and Brazilian forward Maybyner "Nene" Hilario in the draft, and obtained forward-center Don Reid from the Orlando Magic.
The 7-foot Blount appeared in 44 games for the Boston Celtics
last season and averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in 9.4
minutes.
As a rookie in 2000-01, Blount averaged 3.9 points and 3.6
rebounds in 64 games for the Celtics. He started 50 games and
led the team with 76 blocked shots.
