Oilers sign Green, Chimera

EDMONTON, Alberta, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- The Edmonton Oilers Fiday signed a pair of Alberta natives, left wing Josh Green and center Jason Chimera.

Green, 24, accepted a qualifying offer on a one-year contract, while Chimera, an Edmonton native, signed a two-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 6-4, 212-pound Green appeared in 61 games for the

Oilers last season, recording 10 goals and five assists. He missed the entire 2000-01 campaign after undergoing surgery on both shoulders.

Chimera, 23, is touted as one of the Oilers' top prospects. He spent last season with Hamilton of the American Hockey League and led the Bulldogs in scoring with 26 goals and 51 assists.

He finished fifth in the AHL in scoring while registering 158 minutes in penalties and a rating of plus-28.

Chimera only played in three games for the Oilers last season, but tallied his first NHl goal.
