Santoro, Vacek win at Idea Prokom Open

SOPOT, Poland, July 22 (UPI) -- Third seed Fabrice Santoro and eighth seed Jan Vacek of the Czech Republic coasted into the second round Monday at the $681,000 Idea Prokom Open.

Playing for the first time since Wimbledown three weeks ago, Santoro faced little opposition from Kim Tiilikainen, sweeping past the Finnish qualifier, 6-4, 6-1.

Vacek, who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, defeated American Alex Kim, 6-0, 6-4.

Fifth seed David Sanchez of Spain had his match against Franco Squillari of Argentina suspended due to rain after splitting the first two sets, 0-6, 6-4. Play will resume Tuesday at deuce in the opening game of the decisive set.

Unseeded Italian Stefano Galvani upset No. 6 Olivier Rocher of Belgium , 7-5, 6-2.

Also getting through the first round were Argentina's Jose Acasuso, who defeated Peru's Luis Horna, 7-5, 7-5. Andrei Stoliarov of Russia needed three sets to get by Germany's Alexander Popp, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Hungary's Atilla Savolt bounced Feliciano Lopez of Spain, 6-4, 6-3.

France's Paul-Henri Mathieu moved on when Radoslaw Nijaki of Poland retired with an elbow injury while trailing 5-2 in the first set.

On the women's side, Polish wild card Joanna Sakowicz surprised fifth seed Cristina Torrens Valero, 6-2, 7-6 (10-8). Sakowicz erved for the match twice before saving two set points in the tiebreaker.

Italian qualifier Flavia Pennetta pulled a mild upset with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Tatiana Poutchek of Belarus.

Tuesday, second seed Carlos Moya of Spain begins the quest for his third title in as many weeks when he faces Sweden's Andreas Vinciguerra.

Moya followed a victory at the Swedish Open with a 6-2, 6-3 win over qualifier David Ferrer in Sunday's final of the Croatia Open. The former French Open champion is seeking his 10th career crown on claycourts, a surface on which he is an ATP-best 31-6 this year.

Vinciguerra has not won a match since the Australian Open in January.

Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic is the top seed after reaching the semifinals of five events this season. He battles French qualifier Sebastien De Chaunac on Tuesday.

Fourth seed Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia battles Spain's Albert Portas in his first-round match.
