Washington 63, Detroit 59

WASHINGTON, July 18 (UPI) -- Vicky Bullett scored 22 points and made a 3-pointer with 20.7 seconds remaining to lift the Washington

Mystics to a 63-59 victory over the Detroit Shock Thursday.

Bullett made 10-of-11 shots and put the Mystics ahead for good,60-59, with her basket from behind the arc on the left wing.

After a turnover by Swin Cash, fellow rookie Stacey

Dales-Schuman sank 1-of-2 free throws to give Washington a 61-59 lead with 5.9 seconds to go.

The Shock again failed to score on their next possession and Dales-Schuman made a pair of free throws for the final margin.

Bullett grabbed eight rebounds and Murriel Page added 11 points as Washington won for the fifth time in seven games.

Cash had 16 points and a season-high 15 rebounds for Detroit, which was trying to win three straight games for the first time since June 12-16, 2001. Astou Ndiaye-Diatta contributed 10 points for the Shock, who held a 44-35 advantage on the boards but fell to 3-7 since coach Bill Laimbeer took over for Greg

Williams.

Bullett made 2-of-3 shots from behind the arc, but the rest of the team was just 2-of-18.

Washington rebounded from Saturday's 67-53 loss the New York Liberty and improved to 9-1 at home.
