SAN JOSE, Calif., June 29 (UPI) -- Ariel Graziani and Ramiro Corrales scored Saturday night as the San Jose Earthquakes rallied to record a 2-1 win over the Kansas City Wizards.
Kansas City produced its goal in the 16th minute, thanks to a well-placed cross from midfielder Stephen Armstrong. Streaking down the left flank, Armstrong curled a perfect ball into the box, finding space in front of Dario Fabbro.
Fabbro poked the ball past goalkeeper Jon Conway for his third goal of the season.
Things got ugly in the 24th minute as each team had a player ejected following a scuffle at midfield. Kansas City lost defensive-minded midfielder Mike Burns for a foul from behind on the Earthquakes' Richard Mulrooney.
Mulrooney was also shown a red card for his retaliation on Burns, leaving each team with only ten players on the field.
Overwhelming the rugged Wizards defense, Ariel Graziani evened the score in the 85th minute. Dwayne DeRosario played the ball deep along the right side of the box, centering to Graziani near the edge of the area. Graziani's shot deflected off of the back of Nick Garcia and past Tony Meola.
The Quakes got the go-ahead goal in the 88th, again with a heads-up play by DeRosario. Ramiro Corrales forced a turnover along the left touchline, playing the ball forward to DeRosario. Rather than force a run on goal, DeRosario laid the ball off into space for a streaking Corrales, who slipped it past Meola.
