Winless in five years on the PGA Tour, the 37-year-old Hnatiuk was four shots ahead of 2000 champion Notah Begay III (68), Matt Kuchar (67) and rookie Tom Petrovic (66), who will play in a lightly regarded final pairing on Sunday.

Pat Bates (69) was alone in fifth at 200, with David Toms (65), Tripp Isenhour (64) and Neal Lancaster (64) at 201.

Paul Claxton had the low round of the day with a 63 and jumped from 69th into a tie for 14th at 203.
