Dokic advances to final

BIRMINGHAM, England, June 15 (UPI) -- Top seed Jelena Dokic of Yugoslavia, seeking her second title of the year, advanced Saturday to the final of the DFS Classic.

Dokic, who needed three sets to get past Eleni Daniilidou of Greece in the quarterfinals, posted a 6-1, 7-5 victory over eighth-seeded American Lisa Raymond.

Sixth seed Anastasia Myskina of Russia will oppose Dokic after defeating 14th seed Nicole Pratt of Australia, 6-3, 7-5. Myskina, who won her only WTA title in 1999 in Palermo, had lost her only previous match with Pratt at Midland in three sets in 2000.

The 19-year-old Dokic, who was ousted in the quarterfinals of the French Open last week by American Jennifer Capriati, is looking for her fifth career title. She defeated Raymond for the second time in as many career meetings.

Dokic last won a title at Sarasota when she defeated Tatiana Panova in straight sets. She had to default in the final at Paris due to a right thigh strain and that injury also caused her to default in the second round at Antwerp.
