FOXBORO, Mass., June 1 (UPI) -- Ariel Graziani scored twice Saturday night to give the San Jose Earthquakes a 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution.
Limited without any real scoring chances early, the Earthquakes broke on top in the 23rd minute when a corner kick by Richard Mulrooney was headed on goal by defender Troy Dayak.
Camped just inside the six-yard box, an unmarked Graziani redirected the ball past Revolution goalkeeper Jurgen Sommer.
Just over five minutes later, New England's Wolde Harris missed a golden chance to equalize when he broke in alone down the right side. With Dayak closing on him, Harris fired a left-footed blast as he entered the penalty area only to see Joe Cannon swat his offering aside.
In the 67th minute, Graziani doubled San Jose's lead with his sixth goal of the season.
Breaking in alone on the left flank after the Revolution's Carlos Semedo misplayed an offside trap, the Ecuadorian easily chipped the ball by Sommer to the near post for his team leading sixth goal of the season. Mulrooney and Wade Barrett drew assists on the play.
