St. Louis 3; Cincinnati 1

ST. LOUIS, May 18 (UPI) -- Darryl Kile threw seven masterful innings Friday night, and Fernando Vina snapped a seventh-inning tie with a sacrifice fly as the St. Louis Cardinals won their fifth straight game, 3-1 over the Cincinnati Reds.

St. Louis (21-20) moved over the .500 mark for the first time since April 19 and did it behind Kile, who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. He allowed just one run and two hits and snapped a personal three-game losing streak.

The game was tied at 1-1 entering the bottom of the seventh when Cincinnati reliever Scott Sullivan (3-1) entered. Sullivan had retired 23 of the last 24 first batters he has faced, but allowed a leadoff single to Kerry Robinson.

Mike Matheny bunted foul for a third strike but Placido Polanco hit for Kile and singled to move Robinson to third. Vina followed by lifting a fly ball to right field to put the

Cardinals ahead for good.

Gene Stechschulte pitched a perfect eighth and closer Jason Isringhausen retired the side in order in the ninth for his 10th save in 11 chances.
