DeRosa suffered the injury running out a double in the fifth inning of Atlanta's 4-2 win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

DeRosa started at shortstop Friday and was 2-for-3 before his injury, raising his average to .345. He has no homers and seven RBI in 21 games.

"It is a shame with the way he was playing," Braves Manager Bobby Cox said. "He's been hitting and he's a winner, I hate to see him go down. It just blew out after he rounded first."

The Braves recalled infielder Jesse Garcia from Class AAA Richmond of the International League to replace DeRosa on the roster.

A 28-year-old infielder, Garcia hit .314 with two homers, eight RBI and four steals at Class AAA Richmond of the International League.
