KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 12 (UPI) -- Bruce Lietzke was declared the winner of the TD Waterhouse Championship Sunday after the Senior PGA Tour event was reduced to 36 holes due to rain.

The final round never got under way and Lietzke was awarded the $240,000 first prize.

The runner-up to Bob Gilder for Rookie of the Year honors last season, Lietzke won his second title of 2002. He also claimed the Audi Senior Classic, using a 6-under-par 66 in the second round to move into contention before winning by one stroke.

After firing an 8-under-par 64 in rainy conditions Saturday, Lietzke was not counting on the weather to help Sunday.

"I've never won a tournament sitting in the clubhouse and I suspect I never will," Lietzke

predicted after Saturday's round.

Lietzke finished at 11-under 133, two shots in front of Larry Nelson. Walter Hall, Hale Irwin and Tom Wargo tied for third, four shots back.

A 13-time winner on the PGA Tour, Lietzke had two victories in 10 starts as a rookie on the Senior Tour.

The tournament was played in unfavorable conditions all weekend, leaving the course waterlogged.
