WASHINGTON, May 12 (UPI) -- Dante Washington scored midway through the second half Sunday as the Columbus Crew rallied for a 1-1 tie with D.C. United in the second game of a soccer doubleheader at RFK Stadium.
A defensive breakdown led to the equalizer in the 67th minute. Jeff Cunningham beat defender Ryan Nelsen down the left side of the box and reached the end line, where he squared a centering pass for Washington for the easy tap-in.
After the teams combined for one shot in the first half, D.C. broke through moments after halftime. Santino Quaranta latched onto a through ball from Moreno, moved in 1-on-1 on Presthus and beat him low for his second goal of the season.
In the opener, the United States tuned up for the World Cup with a 2-1 victory over Uruguay.
