SEATTLE, May 9 (UPI) -- Ichiro Suzuki used his blazing speed to manufactured a run in the bottom of the 10th inning Wednesday night to give the Seattle Mariners a 5-4 victory over the slumping Toronto Blue Jays.
Suzuki led off the bottom of the 10th with a bunt single, his league-leading 12th infield hit, off Scott Eyre (1-3).
Suzuki was sacrificed to second by Desi Relaford and Bret Boone was intentionally walked. On a 1-1 pitch to John Olerud, Suzuki took third on the front end of a double steal, easily beating the throw.
The Blue Jays then brought their infield in and Olerud hit a two-hopper right at second baseman Joe Lawrence. Suzuki beat his throw as well and got his foot around the foot of catcher Tom Wilson and on a corner of the plate.
Suzuki's speed made a winner of Kazuhiro Sasaki (2-0), who suffered his second blown save of the season.
