Boston 15, Baltimore 3

BOSTON, May 1 (UPI) -- On a night where Pedro Martinez merely was human, slugger Manny Ramirez was something more.

Ramirez belted two homers and drove in five runs and Jose Offerman went 4-for-4 as the Boston Red Sox continued their offensive assault on the American League with a 15-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday nighty.

It was Ramirez's second multi-homer game of the season and 29th of his career. He clouted a three-run shot off rookie starter Sean Douglass in the first and a two-run blast off Josh Towers in the fourth.

Ramirez, who has nine homers, has driven in a major

league-leading 31 RBI and leads the American League with a .744 slugging percentage.

Offerman scored four runs and drove in two while Nomar Garciaparra and Johnny Damon each had two of Boston's season high-tying 16 hits. Garciaparra extended his hitting streak to 15 games while Damon has hit safely in 12 straight.

It was not a vintage performance for Martinez (4-0), who allowed three runs and six hits over five innings with two walks and five strikeouts. He improved to 6-1 lifetime and 3-0 this season against Baltimore.

Trot Nixon and Brian Daubach also homered for the Red Sox, who have won five of their last six games and scored at least 10 runs for the sixth time this season.

Douglass (0-1) yielded five runs -- four earned -- and five hits in three innings for the Orioles, who dropped two of three to the Red Sox.
