"Santa Anita is an outstanding facility with a great tradition of showcasing top flight international racing for both its horsemen and its fans. As with the previous two runnings of the Breeders' Cup during the Oak Tree Meets at Santa Anita, we look forward to another excellent presentation of the World Thoroughbred Championships," said D.G. Van Clief Jr., Breeders' Cup president.

Sherwood Chillingworth, executive vice president and director of the Oak Tree Racing Association said the announcement is particularly gratifying given the "two false starts" in the past three years.

This will be the third time the Oak Tree Racing Association has hosted the Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita Park. The two previous times were 1986 and 1993.

In addition to Santa Anita, during its 18-year history, the Breeders' Cup has also been held at Aqueduct Racetrack and Belmont Park in New York, Churchill Downs in Kentucky, Hollywood Park in California, Gulfstream Park in Florida and Woodbine Racetrack in Ontario, Canada. This year's Breeders' Cup will be run on Oct. 26 at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, Ill.
