San Antonio 95, Phoenix 71

SAN ANTONIO, April 16 (UPI) -- Tim Duncan had 24 points and 11 rebounds in just 24 minutes Tuesday night as the San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak to eight games with a 95-71 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

San Antonio (57-24) remained in a first-place tie with Dallas in the Midwest Division with one game remaining. The Spurs conclude their regular season at Utah on Wednesday, while the Mavericks play at Phoenix.

The Spurs hold the tiebreaker over the Mavs and would win the division if the teams end up tied. San Antonio won three of four meetings from Dallas this season.

Duncan made 11-of-16 shots en route to his league-leading 66th double-double. He had 10 points in the opening quarter, when the Spurs built a 31-15 lead.

The All-Star forward had 17 points and nine rebounds by halftime as San Antonio extended its advantage to 57-33. With the game in hand, Duncan departed with 3:06 remaining in the third quarter.

The Spurs shot 53 percent (41-of-77) and limited Phoenix to 38 percent (31-of-82) and its lowest point total of the season. The total also was the fewest the Spurs have allowed this season.

Joe Johnson paced Phoenix with 12 points. Shawn Marion scored just two points on 1-of-11 shooting.
