Ferrari has 1-2 finish in F1

IMOLA, Italy, April 14 (UPI) -- Michael Schumacher and Rubens gave Ferrari a 1-2 finish Sunday at the San Marino Grand Prix.

Schumacher, the four-time Formula One champion, recorded his third victory in four grand prixs this year and 56th of his career. He averaged 127.274 miles per hour and completed the 62-lap event in one hour, 29.10 minutes.

Brazilian teammate Barrichello earned his first six points of the season with the runner-up finish. It was the 26th podium finish of his career compared to 101 for Schumacher.

Ralf Schumacher claimed third place in a Williams BMW, followed by teammate Juan Montoya of Colombia. Ralf Schumacher made a run on Barrichello and overtook him for second place, but only briefly.

By lap eight, Michael Schumacher had opened a five-second lead on his brother and doubled that advantage by the 30th lap when he made the first of two pit stops.

Fast stops by Ferrari also contributed to Barrichello, who had problems with his rear left tire, yet he managed to come out ahead of Ralf.

Michael Schumacher has 34 points after four races. Ralf Schumacher is 14 points behind, with Montoya in third place with 17. Jenson Button of England stands fourth after a fifth place finish in a Renault.
