Phils activate Wolf

PHILADELPHIA, April 12 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Phillies Friday activated lefthander Randy Wolf from the 15-day disabled list and promptly started him against the Cincinnati Reds.

He had been on the DL since March 27 with tendinitis in his pitching elbow.

The lone lefty in the Phillies' rotation, Wolf went 10-11 with a 3.70 ERA in 28 games last season, including 25 starts.

After losing his spot in the rotation, Wolf regained his job in mid-July and went 5-2 over his last 10 starts.

To make room for Wolf on the roster, the Phillies placed reserve infielder Dave Hollins on the 15-day disabled list with a spider bite infection in his left knee.

Hollins, who also missed time during spring training with the injury, is hitless in seven at-bats this season.
