ST. PAUL, MINN., April 9 (UPI) -- Manny Fernandez stopped 18 shots and Sergei Zholtok had a goal and an assist Monday night as the Minnesota Wild held on for a 2-1 victory over the playoff-bound San Jose Sharks.

Red-hot Patrick Marleau had the lone goal for the Sharks, who could have broken a single-season team record for points with a tie or win. It also would have made San Jose the second franchise in NHL history to show improvement in six consecutive seasons.
