Bucs sign receiver Jurevicius

TAMPA, Fla., April 9 (UPI) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tuesday reached an agreement with free agent receiver Joe Jurevicius on a three-tear contract.

Jurevicius, 27, spent his first four years with the New York Giants, catching a career-high 51 passes for 706 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games, including nine starts, last season.

In Tampa Bay, the 6-5, 230-pound Jurevicius provides new coach Jon Gruden with another big target to pair with Keyshawn Johnson.

The Bucs lost free agent receivers Jacquez Green and Reidel Anthony, who both signed with the Washington Redskins. Green had just 36 receptions for 402 yards last season.

The Giants were interested in retaining Jurevicius, especially since starting receiver Ike Hilliard has asked to be traded. Third-year player Ron Dixon will move into Jurevicius' role as third receiver.

A second-round pick out of Penn State in 1998, Jurevicius had 102 receptions for 1,442 yards and five touchdowns in four seasons with the Giants.
