Calgary 5, Los Angeles 3

CALGARY, Alberta, March 30 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla scored twice to move closer to the 50-goal mark Saturday night as the Calgary Flames downed the Los Angeles Kings, 5-3.

Iginla, the NHL's leading scorer, registered his 45th and 46 goals. He has eight games remaining to reach the 50-goal plateau for the first time in his career.

Jason Allison pulled Los Angeles within 4-3 with 2:49 left in the third period, but the Flames clinched the win on Iginla's empty-net goal with 49 seconds to go.

After the Kings rallied from a 2-0 deficit on second-period goals by Cliff Ronning and defenseman Nattias Norstrom, Rod Niedermayer snapped the tie for the Flames 5:39 into the third.

Calgary made it 4-2 on Dean McAmmond's power-play tally with 3:54 remaining.

The Kings completed a winless four-game road trip (0-3-1) and dropped into sixth place in the Western Conference, one point behind Phoenix.

Chris Clark opened the scoring with 52 seconds left in the first period before Iginla's power-play goal made it 2-0 at 3:52 of the second.
