Indians obtain Perez from Atlanta

CLEVELAND, March 21 (UPI) -- Less than 24 hours after acquiring Henry Blanco for Paul Bako and reliever Jose Cabrera, the Atlanta Braves sent veteran backup Eddie Perez to the Cleveland Indians Thursday for a player to be named.

The 33-year-old Perez is a career .258 hitter with 24 homers and 104 RBI over seven major league seasons. Perez was limited to just 12 games over the last two seasons because of a right rotator cuff tear. This spring he hit just .188 with three RBI in 32 at bats.
