Baltimore 6, Cincinnati 5

SARASOTA, Fla., March 21 (UPI) -- Tony Batista's two-run homer off Jose Rijo in the seventh inning Thursday lifted the Baltimore Orioles to a 6-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

Jeff Conine and Brook Fordyce each hit solo home runs and Melvin Mora delivered a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the sixth before Batista's shot completed a rally from a 4-1 deficit.

Sean Runyan pitched a scoreless inning for the win and Lee Marshall worked the ninth for the save.

Josh Towers started for Baltimore and allowed all five runs and 10 hits in five innings.

Adam Dunn and Gookie Dawkins each had RBI triples in a four-run fourth inning and Juan Encarnacion hit a solo homer in the fifth for Cincinnati.

Chris Reitsma pitched five innings for the Reds and yielded two runs and four hits.
