TUCSON, March 15 (UPI) -- John Thomson tossed five steady innings and helped himself at the plate and seven players each drove in a run Friday to help the Colorado Rockies down the San Diego Padres, 7-3.

Thomson was not spectacular, but he got the job done, allowing two runs and six hits with a walk and three strikeouts for the victory. Thomson aided his cause with a pair of hits and an RBI.

Juan Uribe, Todd Hollandsworth and Ben Petrick each chipped in two of the Rockies' 15 hits.
