COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 14 (UPI) -- Brendan Morrison and Matt Cooke each had a goal and an assist Thursday night, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 5-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
With the Canucks leading holding a 2-1 lead, Morrison put a rebound of Todd Bertuzzi's shot past goaltender J.F. Labbe for his 19th goal, one that came 84 seconds into the second period.
Morrison set up Markus Naslund just under 11 minutes later and the Vancouver captain extended the advantage to 4-1 with his 28th goal.
Labbe was replaced by Ron Tugnutt, who was beaten by Cooke on the first shot he faced. Cooke got a feed from Todd Warriner above the crease and flipped the puck over Tugnutt's glove for his 13th goal.
The Canucks moved into ninth place in the Western Conference, one point ahead of Edmonton and two behind Dallas for the final playoff spot.
