Vikings sign Henri Crockett

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., March 13 (UPI) -- A week after losing free agent middle linebacker Kailee Wong, the Minnesota Vikings filled the hole Wednesday by signing Henri Crockett.

Crockett played primarily at strongside linebacker the last five years with the Atlanta Falcons but will move to the middle for Minnesota.

The Vikings targeted both Crockett and Bernardo Harris, who was waived by the Green Bay Packers for salary cap purposes.

It was the second major defensive addition by the Vikings, who signed free agent defensive end Kenny Mixon on Saturday.

Crockett, 27, started 15 games last season and posted a career-high 54 tackles.

A fourth-round pick out of Florida State in 1997, Crockett started 61 of 73 games with the Falcons and recorded 272 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks, 14 passes defensed and three forced fumbles.

Crockett was signed as a free agent by the Denver Broncos last spring, but was traded back to Atlanta for a draft pick during training camp.
