RICHMOND, Va., March 13 (UPI) -- Reggie Brown had 19 points and Mike Skrocki added 17 Wednesday night as Richmond scored the final eight points of the game in a 74-67 overtime victory over Wagner in the first round of the National Invitational Tournament.
In the final 33 seconds of overtime, Brown recorded a steal, made a pair of free throws and put home a fast-break dunk as the Spiders (20-13) recorded a first-round NIT victory for the second straight year.
Richmond defeated West Virginia here in the first round last year before losing at Dayton.
With his team trailing by one with 1:36 left, Skrocki converted two shots from the line to put Richmond ahead and then hit a basket to open a 70-67 cushion with 47 seconds remaining.
Jermaine Hall, who was named to the All-Northeast Conference team for the second straight season, paced Wagner with 19 points. Courtney Pritchard converted his first two free throws of the game with just under a minute to go in the second half and gave Wagner a 61-59 lead.
But Richmond's Tony Dobbins put home a layup with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to knot the contest at 61-61 and force overtime.
