Mavericks activate Bradley, Buckner

DALLAS, March 5 (UPI) -- The Dallas Mavericks activated center Shawn Bradley and guard Greg Buckner from the injured list Tuesday, adding to the team's already impressive depth.

Bradley was placed on the injured list Feb. 22 and missed the last game with a sore right knee. He is averaging 4.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.32 blocks in 37 games this season.

The 7-6 Bradley has started 16 games this season and although a mediocre starting center, he will provide a solid backup for the potent frontcourt tandem of All-Star Dirk Nowitzki and Raef LaFrentz, who was acquired in a seven-player trade with the Denver Nuggets just 12 days ago.

Buckner has battled injuries all season and is averaging 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in only 22 games. He was placed on the injured list Feb. 17 with a left calf strain and has missed the last eight games.

To make room for Bradley and Buckner, the Mavericks placed forwards Danny Manning and Tariq Abdul-Wahad on the injured list.

Manning, a 14-year veteran, has a lower back strain. He is averaging 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 41 games, including 10 starts.

Abdul-Wahad, who was acquired from Denver along with LaFrentz and Nick Van Exel on Feb. 21, is suffering from a sore left knee. He is averaging 5.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 24 games and has appeared in four games since joining the Mavericks.
