EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., March 3 (UPI) -- Kenyon Martin scored eight of his 15 points in the third quarter Sunday -- all on dunks -- as the New Jersey Nets held off the Chicago Bulls, 92-84, to snap a two-game losing streak.
Martin had a pair of flagrant-2 fouls earlier this season, raising questions about his style of play. He had a flagrant-1 against Toronto on Feb. 2 and picked up another early in the third quarter when he tried to run through a screen set by Bulls rookie Eddy Curry.
With six flagrant foul points, Martin is subject to an automatic one-game suspension. He figures to sit out Tuesday's road game against the two-time champion Los Angeles Lakers.
After his foul, Martin had four dunks in the period, including a flying lefthanded follow of a miss by rookie Jason Collins. His flurry helped the Nets extend an eight-point halftime lead to 66-53 entering the final period.
Collins had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Lucious Harris scored 16 points for the Nets, who completed a season series sweep of the Bulls without big contributions from their stars.
