COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Brian Brown had 18 points and Boban Savovic added 13 as 18th-ranked Ohio State maintained its perfect home record in Big Ten Conference play Saturday night with a 77-66 victory over Purdue.
The Buckeyes (19-6, 10-4 Big Ten) improved to 7-0 in conference matchups at Value City Arena and moved within one-half game of idle Indiana atop the Big Ten standings.
Ohio State had lost three of its previous four games -- all on the road.
Darmetreis Kilgore scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting for the Boilermakers (12-17, 4-11), who completed a winless Big Ten road campaign for the first time since the 1965-66 season, finishing 0-8.
Brown contributed eight points as Ohio State outscored Purdue, 15-4 to start the second half. The senior guard finished off the run by hitting a jumper with 13:25 to play as the Buckeyes grabbed a 52-37 advantage.
The Buckeyes had trailed, 28-21, with less than six minutes to go in the opening half when Savovic nailed a jumper to spark a 12-0 outburst. Savovic scored seven points during the 2 1/2-minute span. Sean Connolly capped the run by making a 3-pointer with 3:21 remaining to open a 33-28 cushion for Ohio State.
