Rockies sign righthander Harnisch

DENVER, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Veteran righthander Pete Harnisch, who missed most of last season with elbow problems, on agreed Tuesday to terms on a one-year contract with the Colorado Rockies.

Harnisch's deal becomes official pending him passing a physical.

Harnisch, 35, was with the Cincinnati Reds last season but was limited to just eight games before undergoing season-ending surgery on his pitching elbow. He went 1-3 with a 6.37 ERA prior to going down.

A 14-year veteran, Harnisch has posted a 111-103 career record with a 3.89 ERA in 270 games. The journeyman also has pitched for the New York Mets, Baltimore, Houston and Milwaukee. Harnisch earned All-Star honors with Houston in 1991.
