Olympic Medal -- W 3,000m Speed Skating

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Claudia Pechstein of Germany set a world record of 3:57.70 Sunday to win the Olympic gold medal in the women's 3,000-meter speed skating event. Renate Groenwold of the Netherlands took the silver and Cindy Klassen of Canada the bronze. Four skaters broke the four-minute mark and 10 turned in a time lower than the previous Olympic record.
