ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Rookie Radim Vrbata recorded his first career hat trick and David Aebischer stopped 24 shots Friday night as the Colorado Avalanche rolled to a 6-0 rout of the Minnesota Wild.

A 21-year-old right wing from the Czech Republic, Vrbata had never scored more than one goal in game prior to Friday.

Vrbata started the Avalanche's scoring barrage with a power-play goal 5:27 into the contest before tallying in each of the final two periods.

One night after turning 24, Aebischer stopped four shots in the first period before turning aside 20 shots over the final 40 minutes en route to his second shutout this season and fifth of his career.
