KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Marcus Haislip rescued Tennessee from another near disastrous collapse Wednesday night, scoring 24 points and converting a layup with 14 seconds left in overtime that lifted the Volunteers to a 76-74 Southeastern Conference upset of No. 9 Kentucky in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Vols took a 70-64 lead on a steal and layup by Thaydeus Holden with 30 seconds left in regulation, but the Wildcats'

Gerald Fitch nailed a pair of three-pointers around a missed one-and-one by Holden and the game went to overtime tied at 70-70.

In the extra period, freshman Chuck Hayes scored to give Kentucky (15-6, 5-4) a 74-72

lead with just over two minutes remaining, but Holden drained a pair from the line to again knot the contest at 74 with 50 seconds left. After the Wildcats missed, Haislip delivered his game-winner.

Kentucky had one final chance, but Tayshaun Prince missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Wildcats failed to move into a second-place tie with Florida in the SEC East.
