Mets sign Bragg to minor-league deal

NEW YORK, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- The New York Mets signed journeyman outfielder Darren Bragg to a minor-league contract Tuesday and invited him to spring training.

Bragg played 18 games with the Mets last season, batting .263 with six doubles and five RBI before he was waived and claimed on June 12 by the New York Yankees.

The 32-year-old Bragg hit .291 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 53 games with Class AAA Columbus of the International League.

The eight-year major league veteran also has played with Seattle, Boston, St. Louis and Colorado and has a .258 career average with 39 homers and 227 RBI.
