Montreal recalls Odjick, Hossa

MONTREAL, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- The Montreal Canadiens, who are returning home from a rough seven-game road trip, recalled left wings Gino Odjick and Marcel Hossa from Quebec of the American Hockey League on Thursday.

Odjick, a veteran enforcer, had two goals and an assist with 40 penalty minutes in 13 games with Quebec. He played six games with Montreal earlier in the season and collected 51 penalty minutes.

The 31-year-old Odjick was acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 7, 2000, for P.J. Stock and a sixth-round draft pick.

Odjick has 60 goals, 69 assists and 2,514 penalty minutes in 575 career games. He missed 37 games last season after undergoing wrist surgery on Jan. 17, 2001.

Hossa was selected by the Canadiens with the 16th overall pick in the 2000 draft and is the younger brother of Ottawa Senators right wing Marian Hossa. The 20-year-old had 14 goals and 14

assists in 39 games with Quebec.

Montreal (17-19-5-2) hosted the New York Islanders on Thursday after completing a 1-5


1 road trip with a 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
