MEMPHIS, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Stromile Swift had 20 points and 10 rebounds, including a soaring follow dunk with 10 seconds left Tuesday night, as the Memphis Grizzlies edged the Toronto Raptors, 84-81, and snapped a four-game losing streak.
After Sunday's loss to Seattle, Memphis point guard Jason Williams lost his cool and said, "Face the facts, we're the worst team in the league." He later was fined by the team.
Memphis came in with the worst record in the Western Conference but was able to handle Toronto despite 31 points from Vince Carter and snap a four-game slide in what was once a meeting of Canadian teams.
Swift had a lot to do with that, making three big baskets down the stretch. After Carter's flying dunk for a three-point play made it 82-81 with 36 seconds left, the second-year forward hammered home a miss by rookie Pau Gasol.
On the final possession, Carter nearly threw away a pass and Chris Childs had to run down the deflection in the backcourt. He got the ball to Alvin Williams, who pulled up for a 3-pointer that was short.
Gasol also had 20 points and 10 boards for Memphis, which shot 47 percent (36-of-77) and held a 49-38 advantage on the glass.
