PITTSBURGH, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Sergei Samsonov scored the go-ahead goal after setting up the first two and Glen Murray and Joe Thornton each had a goal and an assist as the Boston Bruins kept rolling Tuesday night with a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Samsonov-Murray-Thornton line has combined for 13 goals and 23 assists in the last seven games, although Samsonov missed two of the them with an injury. The trio produced all three goals against Pittsburgh as the Bruins won for the eighth time in 10 games and remained one point behind first-place Toronto in the Northeast Division.
Thornton lifted Boston into a 2-2 tie with 1:59 left in the second period, finishing off a 2-on-1 with Samsonov with his 18th goal.
Samsonov netted the game-winner off another 2-on-1 with 11:46 to play in the third period. As he did on the tying goal, he carried down the right side. But instead of passing to Thornton, he shot from the edge of the faceoff circle and beat goaltender Johan Hedberg for his 11th goal.
John Grahame stopped 28 shots and helped the Bruins kill all five power plays.
Rookie Kris Beech and Jan Hrdina scored first-period goals for the Penguins, who have just two wins in their last 13 games (2-9-2).
