
PHOENIX, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Daymond Langkow and Shane Doan each scored twice and linemate Daniel Briere added a goal and an assist Monday night as the surging Phoenix Coyotes handed the New York Rangers their second straight lopsided New Year's eve loss, 5-0.
Last season, New York traveled to Dallas on the last night of 2000 and was routed by the Stars, 6-1. The Coyotes matched that margin on their way to a third straight win.
Langkow had gone five games without a goal but scored twice in a 42-second span early in the second period to extend Phoenix's lead to 3-0. Doan capped the Coyotes' three-goal outburst, then completed the scoring just over six minutes into the third. He also had a pair of assists.

Again playing without injured center Eric Lindros, New York had a three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 2-1-0 on a six-game road trip.
