
PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Dan Dickau hit a three-pointer with 3.6 seconds left Monday night to give 22nd-ranked Gonzaga its ninth straight win, 83-80 over St. Joseph's.
Dickau scored 25 points, including a pair of free throws with a minute left to tie it at 80-80. After his three-pointer, Na'im Crenshaw tried to force overtime, but could not connect on a long three-pointer just before the buzzer.
Dickau made five of eight three-pointers and Zach Gourde added 16 points for Gonzaga. Blake Stepp chipped in 15 points, all on three-pointers.
Bill Phillips scored 26 points for the Hawks (6-4), who suffered their third straight loss. He tied it at 78-78 on a three-pointer with just over two minutes remaining and made two free throws to put St. Joseph's ahead before Dickau's heroics.
Marvin O'Connor, who was averaging nearly 20 points a game, was held to eight for the Hawks.
Gonzaga (12-2) improved to 2-0 on a three-game East Coast road trip, its first in more than eight years.
