DETROIT, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Luc Robitaille scored his 608th career goal on the power play 5:52 into the second period Monday night, leading the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild.
Detroit already had a 1-0 lead when Robitaille poked his own rebound past goaltender Manny Fernandez from the left side of the crease. The goal tied him with former Red Wing Dino Ciccarelli for 11th on the all-time list.
It took just 2:51 for the Detroit to take the lead. Sergei Fedrov skated through the neutral zone and whipped a pass to Kirk Maltby on the right side. Maltby's feed bounced off rookie Sean Avery's stick to Darren McCarty, who beat Fernandez from the left faceoff circle.
The goal was McCarty's second of the season and first in 16 games.
The teams battled to a 3-3 tie on Wednesday in Minnesota, but the Red Wings have outscored the Wild, 12-5, and outshot them, 82-39, in a pair of home wins this season.
